Kevin+Mandy Engaged //Peterborough Wedding Photographer//Kawartha Lakes Photographer

The day started off with excited smiles and easy conversation because that's how its always been with Mandy. We met one summer working our way through post secondary studies at Home Depot and have been friends ever since. We bonded over our mutual love/hattte relationship with our job...we loved it because we got to chat and socialize with one another but hated doing the actual 'cashiering' part. She is a great listener, gives the best advice and is the most genuine and sweet person I have ever met.

Her and Kevin have been together for years and I couldn't think of two people more perfect for one another. They compliment each other in every way, and like Mandy he is so sincere (and funny!) and I love them both very much! Their love reminds me of 'old' love. I say old love because its the kind of love that lasts through anything, its the love you see when hes 85 and still opening doors for her. Its the look in his eye when Mandy is talking, like she is the most stunning and beautiful girl in the world (which she is). Its the way she takes his hand, and loves sweet forehead kisses. Their love is strong and beautiful and I wish them the very best life, filled with love and a lot of forehead kisses.
yeaa thaatss definitelly somme bliiiiiiinnnnnggg

Im so honored I was able to sneak a peak at their love during the engagement session and I cannot wait to be apart of the day we all have been waiting for, when they promise forever to one another on December 31st, 2o11.

Gift Certificates

upside down? haha silly internet.
This year has been a trying one for me and my family. We have gone through the death, separation and a wholllle lotta stresss that goes along with that. What I can truely say has helped me get through a lot of the emotions is photography. I love love LOVE what I do and it brings me so much happiness to share in the love and special moments of all my awesome clients. I am able to give them memories and I know that when times are rocky people especially hold onto to those moments and crave to reminisce. At the time of my Poppas funeral my family was hard pressed to find photos of the great life he lived. The rare photo we found, we cherished thats why I think its so important to capture everything. You never know what you will want to look back on one day.
I have decided to incorporate 2 new deliciouus packages into my business. The first really isnt a 'new package' BUT super cool none the less, 'Just Because' gift certificates are now available to give all your friends and family! With the holidays coming up why not surpise your friends and loved ones with the gift of memories (and a realllllly fun time with me!) The second is a 'Belly to Baby' package which I cant think of a better gift at a baby shower (gift certificates available) or a gift to yourself and your new little twinkle if your expecting. With this package you will get an hour and half session in total, half an hour being spent with you and your beautiful belly and then an hour when the little peanut arrives capturing the ten little toes and your new family.
My mom designed and created all of the gift certificates! Shes amazing with crafts (after all sheis the CR8TIVE1 as her liscense plate states :)haha) Thanks mom, your the best!

take your time

As Matt and I were driving home from Huntsville on Saturday after the O.F.A.H. Camp we saw a sign on the road that said 'High Falls' so we decided to check it out. I was reluctant because we had a pretty long day and still a 2 hour drive ahead of us. I was feeling my bed and cozy blankets get further and further away as we made our way off the highway on to this old windy dirt road.

We took a wrong turn but quickly got back on track and then we spoted it - high falls, and suddenly my bed wasnt even on my mind anymore. I was in awe, that this veiw was minutes from the busy highway we were just on. I was in the "ijustsawmountainsforthefirsttime" kind of awe. Here are a couple quick shots we took and they really dont even do this place justice.

It goes to show you that sometimes its worth your while to take a little detour and not worry about time and always rushing to get from point A to B... you've gotta smell the flowers sometimes :)

Random 1

I just thought I would share a few random facts about me to start your weekend off!

I love love looveee camping.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is my favourite.

Walmart is one of my favourite stores.

I beyond love cards, I thinking browsing and picking a nice card for someone is so sweet. I almost always cry when I get one, I think its so personal.

I cannot remember ANYTHING without my blackberry, hence why I can't put it down.

I turned my kitchen pantry into a fabulous shoe closet ... pfft who need food when you can have 7000000 pairs of stilettos!

:) here is a shot of our puppy Dakota and her 3 besties (matts parents dogs!)

Emilee+Alexis

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of shooting two of the girls from the Prom I shot a couple weeks ago. It was so much fun getting to know them on a more personal level and re-live how exciting it is to finish highschool and have that last summer at home before going on to a new adventure of either working or post secondary studies.

Emilee and Alexis told me that this summer they just planned on 'livin it up'! We laughed and I snapped pictures as the 3 of us tried not to fall off the bridge into the water. They both had such bright and upbeat personalities which was so fun to work with, I had SO much fun!

Enjoy your summer and have an amazing time in your adventures next year!

Wanna go to the Prom ?

After I found out I had the opportunity to shoot the Thomas A Stewart formal I called up Matt and asked him if he would be my prom date... he sweetly asked if I was on something because clearly I am had graduated from highschool a lonnnnng time ago.
Little did he know, he'd not only be taking me to the prom but also lifting, slugging, and setting up all of my equipment (haha)It was pretty fun shooting the prom I have to say, it brought back this sense of nostalgia to my highschool formal! I remember how exciting it is to be asked to go, picking out your dress, getting your hair and makeup done (I felt like such a princesss-which I totally lovedd) and that sense of this being the most exciting night of your life - something that your going to remember forever...
The students were all cool and it was really surreal chatting with some of them about their post secondary plans and offering them a little advice on certain things I had learned during my University experience!

I wish you all the best class of 2010, your going to do great things!

Hunter Family

A couple of weeks ago I shot the Hunter family and it was such a pleasure working with them! Kathryn contacted me to inquire about shooting a family portrait for her moms birthday, and of coarse I was honored! (I think it so awesome when clients search and search and then they find the right fit for them - and its you, its really an un-describable feeling)

We went to Erindale Park in Mississauaga (which is now one of my favourite spotss!) its so big and theres tons of neat spots to shoot - and not your typical flower garden type of shots either...
One great thing about the Hunter's is that they knew what they wanted and knew they didnt want to melttt in the hot sun so we were fasst and I think captured a lot of personality!

Here are a couple of my favourites! I had a blast getting to know your family!

lovely.

my aunt and my cousins <3

haha sooo in the moment - this was my 'test' shot but I love love love the natural emotion.

Below is my all time fave! I chose this one to go up on my wall because its so 'real'.. When I pressed the trigger (haha these were all done via tripod and wireless remote) Caleb did this crazy pose and everyone got upset for 'ruining' it. When I downloaded this image I absolutely fell in love with how typical and 'us' it turned out to be. Life isnt posed, so why should our portraits be? just a thought ...

Hey all, this post is backdated because I am super lame and have not blogged in quite some time... BUT better late than never.

Here are some self-timed shots of my family over easter weekend, which was BEAUTTTIOUSS. And I am soso thankful I got to spend the long weekend outside with the sun on my face surrounded with the people I love the most (minus one).

This year has been comprised of a lot of changes not only for myself but for my family as well. And despite everything, every one of my siblings has kept one thing for sure and thats their smiles and their sense of humor, which I think is so wonderful. I love coming home and catching up on all the laughs and stories I've missed out on. It is such an amazing feeling to go 'home' and relax with the people who know you inside and out and love you anyways.

I hope everyone makes the time (on holidays or not) to spend some time with friends and family because whats life without them :)

Happy Wednesday.

Old Friends

Over the weekend I visited my very best friend Victoria. We have known each other for many years and have certainly shared many memories together. University has changed us both so much and because we live in cities far apart we don't get to see one another that often, so when we do get together I cherish the time so much. This weekend we spent reminiscing of the past and thinking of the future -- we looked at some old photos and laughed at how stupid we used to look and how much fun we had. I decided that I wanted to do a shoot with her, so we geared up and headed to a local park. I loved being able to share my passion for photography with someone who is very close to my heart and whom I care so much about :)
