When Matt proposed, it was all I imagined it to be. We went to a spot that was special to us, he said all these sweet and wonderful things, he even gave me this beautiful ring in an origami box he made the previous summer and saved for something as special as that day. It was all I imagined - perfection.
He calls our moms and both tell him to just fill me in because really, what other ridiculous story could he tell me now. He comes back all sheepish and tells me his plans to get engaged and 3 months later I'm wearing his motorcycle on my finger and it has never been sooo sparkly.
Like I said he just can't keep the secret.
Last week he brings his lunch bag home from work and when I go to empty it, there's like a zillion magazines inside ... I ask what they are for, and his eyes dart to the door and he mumbles something about a work project, snatches the bag out of my hand and practically runs outside. He comes back inside a while later and was all "youuuu ruined my supriseee" and then tells me that he asked a colleague at work to give him copies of his company magazine (Ontario Out of Doors - which has hired me on few occasions to shoot for them) and he bookmarked every single photo of mine that was featured. He was going to surprise me with a scrapbook of all the photos that have been published.
But I haddddd to go and ruin it because I tried to unpack his lunch...
I love that you can't keep secrets like this, they make for funny stories and sweet memories :)

When I asked how they fell in love, Kevin said Kayla tells the story better ... She laughs from the backseat and says "You loved me, I was scared of you" she then recalls a time when she ran into him in the hallway of their highschool and died. Literally. But she eventually grew out of that shy and terrified stage and realized that this guy, well he wasnt so scary afterall. 
Now 7 years later, after all the basketball games, passing of notes, highschool, then college, racing, and living together they have decided to promise a lifetime with one another. 
They will be married in 2012 and I cant be more thrilled and honored to not only document their love but also be a part of the wedding. They make each other shine, literally. When he looks at her, she glows. And when she grabs for his hand his eyes light up and he couldn't be more handsome. They support one another with whatever they do, she never misses one of his races and he stays up late and helps her study when she needs it. Their love is wonderful and seeing them through my lens and now as I post this blog it warms my heart and puts a smile on my face. Kayla is my cousin and one of my best friends and I am so happy she found someone to love her (even in the morning). as much as Kevin does. I had so much fun during their engagement session, it was a little brisk but the day was perfect and we got some really fun shots!

The day started in the Novotel Hotel in Toronto. As Allison , her parents and bridesmaids got glamorous with eyelashes, shoes (that were to die for) cute clutches and finally their stunning dresses, there was excitement all around. Excitement to see their friend and sister walk down the aisle and say ‘forever’. Excitement to see their daughter become a wife. Excitement to exchange arms with her father to what would soon be the man she will grow old with. Excitement and love from all around.
The groomsmen on the other hand, were anxious … scouring you tube for ‘how to’ videos because not one of them knew what knot would secure their ties, that is until Matt showed up to shoot the ‘getting ready shots’, he managed to tie the proper knots and got some great photos too!
Greg was soooo sweet to write a little note to each of the bridesmaids! 
We all met in the Distillery District in Toronto for a ‘First Look’ and bridal party shots. This was such a great way to start the day because it allowed us TONS of time for group shots and shots of just the bride and groom, and it also left them lots of time after the ceremony to enjoy their friends and family.
This was a bow off of Allison's moms wedding dress, it was her 'something old' and she pinned it underneath her own dress.
The Distillery District offered such cool spots, I could shoot there everyday!

The Enoch Turner schoolhouse was ahhhmmaaazing! Such a unique venue!
Allisons Father looked so proud to walk his daughter down the aisle, it was beautiful.
And I'm going to end with this shot of one of the groomsmen and his 'dance in' because its hilarious and jsut reminds me of how fun and wonderful the evening was!
Greg and Allison, it was a pleasure getting to know you both. I felt so comfortable chatting away with you and getting to know your friends and family, everyone was so kind and welcoming. Your wedding was beautiful and I just want to thank you so much for letting me be there to capture you both on this day. I wish you so much love and all the best things life has to offer!
This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Derek and Robyn for their engagement. Robyn wanted their pictures done in 'fields' but had no idea where we could make this happen. The one and only place I could think of was my childhood home, 'the farm' as our family calls it so thats where we went. I have never taken any of my clients there but I think Im going to more often because there were soo many different spots to shoot in! I could have stayed there all dayy and still found different locations.

this is one of my favs! ^ I dont know why, but I think it is totally themmm. Robyn is all smiles when she is with Derek, and he just seems like he wants to make her happy which is beatiful.
