lovely.

my aunt and my cousins <3

haha sooo in the moment - this was my 'test' shot but I love love love the natural emotion.

Below is my all time fave! I chose this one to go up on my wall because its so 'real'.. When I pressed the trigger (haha these were all done via tripod and wireless remote) Caleb did this crazy pose and everyone got upset for 'ruining' it. When I downloaded this image I absolutely fell in love with how typical and 'us' it turned out to be. Life isnt posed, so why should our portraits be? just a thought ...

Hey all, this post is backdated because I am super lame and have not blogged in quite some time... BUT better late than never.

Here are some self-timed shots of my family over easter weekend, which was BEAUTTTIOUSS. And I am soso thankful I got to spend the long weekend outside with the sun on my face surrounded with the people I love the most (minus one).

This year has been comprised of a lot of changes not only for myself but for my family as well. And despite everything, every one of my siblings has kept one thing for sure and thats their smiles and their sense of humor, which I think is so wonderful. I love coming home and catching up on all the laughs and stories I've missed out on. It is such an amazing feeling to go 'home' and relax with the people who know you inside and out and love you anyways.

I hope everyone makes the time (on holidays or not) to spend some time with friends and family because whats life without them :)

Happy Wednesday.

wednesday

its like a wednesday ... wednesday is the day in the week where the weekend is in sight and the rest of the week will blur by with thoughts of sleeping in and carefree afternoons... Matt's coming home in not 2 1/2 months, not 5 weeks but ONE MONTH ... this marks the wednesday of our time apart. The end is in sight and thoughts of waking up next to each other, telling secrets at night, seeing his smile, hearing his laugh in 'REAL LIFE' are all things that are are going to make this last month blur by until we can sleep in together, and have carefree afternoons.
miss you, but its not long now xxx

candace - just because

Passionate, Genuine, Loyal, Funny, Easy-Going -- these are the words I would use to describe Candace. I have known her for about 6 years now and she is one of the most remarkable people I have ever met. I love her ability to speak freely about what she is passionate about and I love how easy going she is about everything!

The funny thing is, if you met Candace, and you met me separately you would never ever believe that we would be as good of friends as we are. I do my hair and makeup to go to the grocery store, she throws on a hat and is on her way. I ask for help to find things and to carry them out at the hardware store, she does it all herself... but for some reason, we click and I know that I'm a better person for knowing and loving Candace!

here are some shots of her from our date night last week in Toronto :)

you are gorgeous and your laugh is contagious!!

isaac + snowboarding

"Jenn, i reeealllly want you to come outside and see me do cool tricks!" I replied with yea - just a sec ... 5 minutes later "are you cominggg yet" haha yesss just a few minutes, let me get my coat -- "and your camerra!" Isaac is my little brother, hes 9 - turning 10 in a week and LOVES snowboarding - he more than loves it actually. So as much as I didn't want to go out in the cold and watch, i enjoyed snapping some cool shots of him doing something he is so passionate about.

these two are a couple of my faves!
My parents live on a small hobby farm in the keene area and in the winter the kids love it because the snow gets piled fairly high, and whether they are making forts, igloos or snow jumps - its always such a fun time.

procrastinate all day = no sleepy at night

I have procrastinated alllll day. and because I am a procrastinator I am up all night trying to do the work that should have gotten done this afternoon... and yet I still cannot committt 100% ... I'd rather be blogging, facebook stalking, playing the sims (haha i know how lammmme that sounds) pretending to be on vacayyy ( as shown above -- yea... im cool like that ;)

Id also rather be taking pictureees. I cannnot let me say it again internet, I CANNOT wait for this week to be over and to be officially done with school work so I can 1000% be devoted to photography.

Heres some more randooomm shots that have aided my procrastination (urgghh)

home sweet home

After getting back form an amazing trip to Alberta to visit with Matt and Dakota (and lots of otheer fabulouss friends!) I'm back at home now. Well a new home. I just relocated to mississauga and although this past week has been a whirlwind of exams and studying and papers to finish up my last YES LAST week of UNIVERSITY (holla!) I can tell I am really going to love it here.

Peterborough has this nostalgia about it -my siblings, my grandparents, aunts, uncles heh - most of my family lives there and its where I spent the better part of my childhood. But the four years I spent living in the small town attending Trent University has definitely given me my fill. I'm ready for moreee!

More photography experience, more urban settings, more people just MORE than I feel Peterborough could offer me.

So heres to starting my neww cityy lifeee and expanding my business :) and not seeing a barn every time I drive home (although I love shooting them! this is a shot of my aunts barn, where I spent countless hours of my childhood exploring)

cheers!

randomness

I read blogs like multiple times a day ( a little obsessed i know ) I just like to see whats up with other photographers and I feel like its so cool to connect with people so anonymously with a blog. One of the many blogs I follow is Claudia Hung's. I met her through a friend and she is my inspiration as a photographer. She was so kind and helpful to me and made me realize that my dream can come true and gave me such amazing advice on where to start and how to get better.
I was reading her blog just a few minutes ago and read a post she made about Steve Carty - and I love this segment from his interview and just thought id share with all y'all :)

Idea and execution.
Compelling element.
You have to look at photography in order see what’s current and contemporary but at the same time, if you look too much at photography you become influenced by what other people are doing and you become Style of the Month guy.
There’s only one sun – one light.
If you stop getting that excitement when you get an edit or when you shoot, you need to hang up your camera.

ps. becauseee every post is better with a pictuuure here is a painting i did a few weeks ago :)
